IT was only last year when Cadee van Aswegen of uMhlanga received the opportunity of a lifetime to dance on the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) stage in New York, USA.
A few months later and Cadee has been accepted to three prestigious summer dance schools in the USA and Europe.

She earned these spots through YAGP Europe, Barcelona as well as the South African International Ballet competition. The 16-year-old’s passion for dance knows no limit and she is excited for this new venture that awaits
“I am so excited and proud to showcase my passion internationally, representing my home studio, Break-Thru Dance Academy, as well as my beautiful country. I haven’t chosen which school I’ll be attending yet,” she said.
“It’s a dream come true,” she added.
Cadee started dancing when she was four years old. After seeing her love for the art, at the age of six her parents enrolled her in the Break-Thru Dance Academy. From there, she knew that dance was something she wanted to seriously pursue.
“I have won several titles, including first places at national and regional competitions, and a top 12 final placement for my contemporary at the Youth American Grand Prix. The Youth American Grand Prix definitely stands out for me. It’s one of the most prestigious dance competitions in the world, and competing was a dream come true for me,” she said.
“I love the freedom and expression that dancing allows. It’s a way to tell stories, convey emotions and connect with audiences without words. There is always a challenge, and the discipline and hard work involved also gives me a sense of accomplishment and growth,” added Cadee.
