MK Party wins Ward 110 by-elections
The ward was previously held by the Democratic Alliance (DA).
THE uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK) has won a closely contested by-election for Ward 110 by just 22 votes.
The ward, previously held by the Democratic Alliance (DA) since 2021, includes Mount Moriah, Mount Royal, Rainham, Sunningdale, Glen Anil and a section of Glen Hills.
In total the MK Party secured 2 435 votes (38.92%), the DA secured 2 413 votes (38.57%), while the ANC came in third with 966 votes (15.44%).

The ward candidate for MK is Mandla Biyela who will be sworn in as councillor.
While the MK Party are yet to issue an official statement they extended their thanks to all who voted in Wednesday’s by-election.
“UMkhonto weSizwe extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported our candidate, Mandla “Motoung” Biyela,” a post on the party’s X (formerly Twitter) page read.
The by-election was triggered earlier this year following the dismissal of former DA councillor Aamir Abdul.
In all, the ward was contested by six political party candidates and one Independent Candidate.
