Greenwood Park robbery: one suspect arrested, another at large

Marshall Security praised the quick thinking of the school’s learners and emphasised the importance of fast, co-ordinated action in ensuring public safety, particularly around school zones during peak hours.

A WOMAN was robbed at knifepoint early this morning near Parkhill Secondary School in Greenwood Park, prompting a swift response from Marshall Security and resulting in the arrest of one suspect.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:22 as the victim walked along Mimosa Road, just outside the school premises.

“Two suspects reportedly approached the woman, with one drawing a knife and demanding her belongings. The assailants made off with her cellphone and house keys before fleeing the scene,” said Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.

Marshall Security teams said learners at the school provided a detailed description of one of the suspects and indicated the direction in which he had run.

Acting on the information, the officers shortly thereafter apprehended a suspect on Chris Hani Road. He was found in possession of the victim’s house keys and the knife believed to have been used in the robbery. The victim later positively identified the individual as one of the attackers.

The second suspect, who fled with the victim’s cellphone, remains at large.

The arrested suspect has been handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS for further investigation and processing.
