Man stabbed in La Lucia altercation

The victim was stabbed multiple times in an altercation and was taken to a nearby hospital.

AN attempted murder case has been opened at the Durban North police station after a man was stabbed multiple times near the La Lucia taxi rank on Tuesday evening.

Law enforcement responded to the incident at around 19:00.

It is believed the victim was involved in an altercation near the taxi rank which led to the stabbing.

“One of our officers stationed at a business premises on Armstrong Avenue was approached by a member of the public who had sustained multiple stab wounds and had run to a nearby service station seeking help,” explained Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.

“Marshall’s Special Operations Team (SOT) were immediately dispatched to the scene, alongside emergency medical services from Netcare 911. Our team initiated first aid intervention while awaiting the arrival of paramedics. Shortly thereafter paramedics arrived on scene and provided further medical attention together with the assistance of other medical service providers. The patient was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.”

The circumstances around the altercation and stabbing are being investigated.
