Decomposing body found in bushes in Cornubia
The father of the deceased said he had been missing for approximately a month.
THE body of a man believed to be a robbery suspect was discovered in dense bush in the Cornubia area on Sunday evening (June 1).
Police officers and members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were led to the decomposing body by the father of the deceased.
Prem Balram, spokesperson for RUSA, said the man was allegedly shot while fleeing the scene of a crime.

“The father made the discovery and contacted the RUSA. He led our officers into a bush and pointed out the extensively decomposed body. He informed us that his son was missing for approximately a month. The deceased was known to rob pedestrians along the R102 between Mount Edgecombe and Phoenix.
“His father received information that his son was involved in a robbery on the day of his disappearance. The victim of the crime allegedly returned with a group of men and pursued his son and his accomplice. One of the men from the group allegedly fired shots in their direction. The deceased fled into a bush, but his accomplice was apprehended,” he said.
Balram said it is believed the man was shot while attempting to flee.
