GREENWOOD Park police are investigating an armed robbery at a business on Effingham Road on Thursday morning.

The incident occurred just after 11:00.

“Reports from the scene indicate that three suspects armed with firearms robbed the business of undisclosed amount of cash, airtime and cigarettes,” explained Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.

The suspects fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.

This is the first major incident in the Greenwood Park area after a high-speed chase led to the arrest of four suspects involved in a cellphone theft on Chris Hani Road last month.

In that incident the suspects were linked to several cases of cellphone theft and robbery across Durban.
