Burglary suspect caught red-handed in Glenashley

The incident occurred on Dowse Road in Glenashley.

A BURGLARY suspect, who allegedly stole items from a home in Glenashley, was arrested on Sunday morning (August 3) with the items in his possession.

The incident occurred on Dowse Road at about 10:45, confirmed Marshall Security’s spokesperson Tyron Powell.

“We received a report of suspicious activity from a resident saying he could hear noises, indicating that items were being broken inside an unoccupied property. Our officers responded to the scene.

“As they were approaching the premises, our officers observed a suspect exiting through the main gate carrying a black bag over his shoulder. The suspect was immediately apprehended with stolen items in his possession. It was established that the suspect entered the house through the front door, which had been left unlocked, and stole an undisclosed amount of items,” he said.

The suspect was detained and handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS.

Powell added that the incident underscored the importance of being vigilant.
