Enoch Mkhize was found guilty on September 8, 2025 in the Durban Magistrate’s Court for theft and damage to critical infrastructure.
The conviction follows a swift arrest made by Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team on June 24, 2024.
According to Tyron Powell, spokesperson for Marshall Security, Mkhize was caught in the act of stripping aluminum railings from the bridge during a routine patrol just after 11:00.
“Our teams spotted the suspect removing railings and immediately intervened,” said Powell.
“With support from our Armed Response Officers, they pursued him onto a nearby golf course where he was apprehended. The stolen aluminum was recovered on site.
“This conviction is a clear demonstration of the vigilance and effectiveness of Marshall Security’s operations,” said Powell.
“It also underscores the importance of strong collaboration between private security, law enforcement, and the Public Prosecutor’s office.”
Marshall Security commended the SAPS for their role in bringing the case to justice and reiterated the ongoing need for vigilance against threats to public infrastructure.
