Contractor arrested for alleged sexual assault of minor in Durban North

A contractor was arrested in Durban North after allegedly sexually assaulting an underage girl at a private residence on Mackeurtan Avenue.

A male contractor was arrested on Friday afternoon following an alleged sexual assault of an underage girl at a private residence on Mackeurtan Avenue in Durban North.

According to Ensure Security spokesperson Kyle van Reenen, the incident occurred at around 15:00 when the suspect, who had been working on-site as part of a construction crew, allegedly entered the home and inappropriately touched the young girl.

“The victim managed to resist and escape before immediately contacting her mother, who alerted authorities,” he said.

Ensure Security’s Tactical Intervention Unit responded to the alert alongside members of other private security companies and the Durban North Community Policing Forum (CPF).

“The swift collaboration between security teams and the CPF ensured that the suspect was contained and that the victim received immediate assistance,” said Van Reenen.

“We commend the rapid response of all involved and remain committed to the safety and protection of our community.”

The Durban North Victim Support Unit provided counselling and support to the victim. The case has since been handed over to the SAPS for further investigation.

Police are continuing their inquiries into the incident, however official comment could not be obtained at the time of publishing.
