Suspects linked to uMhlanga and Durban North break-ins arrested
A gang behind over 12 Durban North, uMhlanga, and Sibaya business break-ins has been arrested.
A CRIMINAL gang linked to more than 12 business break-ins across the Durban North, uMhlanga, Sibaya, and Gateway areas was arrested last week by the Durban North police and Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team (SOT).
Working on intelligence, the Durban North Crime Prevention unit stopped a silver VW Polo on Umgeni Road that had been used in a break-in in Sibaya on October 15.
Police arrested three suspects and a search of the vehicle revealed multiple business break-in implements and several backpacks.

“Through interviews and identification, it was confirmed that these suspects were connected to a series of business break-ins that had been reported in the Durban North, uMhlanga, Sibaya, and Gateway areas over the past six months,” explained Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.
“Marshall Security’s SOT members, working closely with Durban North SAPS, had been actively investigating this syndicate for several months. Following the arrests, members verified the suspects’ residential addresses, which led them to properties in Newlands and KwaMashu,” he said.
A fourth suspect was arrested after another vehicle linked to the crimes, a Nissan NP200, was recovered at another residence in KwaMashu.
All suspects and vehicles were transported to Durban North SAPS for processing and further investigation.
