One killed in Parkhill shooting

Two people involved in the shooting incident sustained multiple gunshot wounds, leaving one person in a critical condition.

ONE person has been killed while another is critical following a shooting on Eastview Road in the Parkhill area.

The incident occurred just after 12:30 on Friday afternoon (December 19).

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said paramedics attended to the two victims, one in a vehicle, and another on the road.

“Paramedics assessed the man in the vehicle, believed to be in his 30s, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for him and he was declared deceased on scene,” he said.

The second victim, Jamieson confirmed, also sustained multiple gunshot wounds and is in a critical condition.

“He was placed on a mechanical ventilator on the scene and transported to a nearby hospital.”

Marshall Security confirmed that officers from the Greenwood Park police station were in attendance.

In a separate incident on Monday (December 15), a suspect wanted in connection with multiple crimes was fatally wounded at Maydon Wharf in Durban in a shoot-out with the SAPS.

According to a SAPS statement the suspect was sought in cases of murder and attempted murder as well as for his alleged involvement in a cash-in-transit robbery in Umlazi earlier this month.
