La Lucia home lights up for festive season

The Singh family are inviting the community to see their light display in La Lucia while also raising awareness on Pug Rescue SA.

FOR the last three years Ravitha Singh and her family have turned their La Lucia home into a Christmas wonderland.

The home is wrapped in festive Christmas lights of all shapes and sizes, Christmas ornaments, Santa decorations and a massive Christmas tree.

All this is done to raise awareness on, and funds for Pug Rescue South Africa.

The rescue helps rehabilitates and re-home Pugs in need, irrespective of their age, breed standard or health.

The Singh family are lovers of pugs, so naturally they want to do all they can to support the organisation by displaying the brightest Christmas lights outside and inside their home and inviting everyone to come and view.

“We have four pugs of our own. When we adopted our first pug, Pablo, we learnt all about the Pug Rescue South Africa and the amazing work they do. Displaying lights is something that my husband, Sunil, has been doing for a very long time.

“We also collect and buy Christmas ornaments and decorations which we now use in the display. Then three years ago we decided to combine both things we love,” she said. “In our first fundraiser we encouraged visitors to bring cans of food to donate. Now however we encourage visitors to make a donation directly to Pug Rescue.”

Entrance to the home is free and while it is not compulsory, Singh encouraged people to donate towards Pug Rescue South Africa as it’s for a good cause.
