Local resident to dedicate her Midmar Mile to SPCA
Glenda Finegan is aiming to raise R4 000 for the Durban and Coast SPCA ahead of her participation at this year’s Midmar Mile.
AS entries continue to stream in for this year’s aQuellé Midmar Mile, one resident is dedicating her mile to the Durban & Coast SPCA.
Local resident Glenda Finegan will not be chasing personal achievements on the day but is hoping to raise thousands of rands for the SPCA, making the event even more meaningful.
“As an animal lover, I’m passionate about making a difference in the lives of our furry friends. The SPCA does incredible work in caring for and protecting animals in need and I’m grateful that I’m able to assist them with this by raising funds for them,” she explained.

Having dedicated her mile to the SPCA last year as well, she has set a target of raising R4 000.
She is set to begin her training in the coming weeks.
“I haven’t started training yet but hope to start this week. I train at the Durban North swimming pool.”
Tanya Fleischer, marketing manager at the Durban & Coast SPCA, also encouraged swimmers taking part in the Midmar Mile to swim under Team SPCA.
“We are looking for anyone who has signed up for the Midmar Mile that would like to swim for the SPCA. Ask your friends, family and colleagues to sponsor your swim in honour of the animals in our care and help raise much needed funds. If anyone is keen we would provide the costumes and do a little write-up on our website with their story,” she said.
