Cricket unites fans at Kingsmead

Despite the absence of the Durban franchise from the SA20 finals qualifiers, local cricket lovers supported the knockout clash between the Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Pretoria Capitals.

CRICKET fans flocked to Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium on Wednesday (January 21) as Durban played host to the first qualifier of this year’s Betway SA20 competition.

It was the first time in the four seasons of the competition that Durban has hosted a qualifier in the premier T20 competition featuring local and international cricketers.

Despite the fact that Durban’s Super Giants weren’t playing, fans still showed up in their numbers to voice their support for the Pretoria Capitals and two-time champions of the competition, Sunrisers Eastern Cape.

The Capitals won the game thanks to Bryce Parsons (who plays for the Hollywoodbets Dolphins), who starred with bat and ball (3/10 in three overs and 60).

He helped the Pretoria team claim a seven-wicket win with contributions from Dewald Brevis, who scored 75 off 38 balls, chasing a target of 171.

The Capitals have sealed a spot in Sunday’s final while the Sunrisers have a second bite at the cherry in the second qualifier on Friday.
