Suspects linked to vehicle thefts arrested in Durban
During the arrest, police recovered numerous house break-in implements, false number plates and computer boxes to steal motor vehicles.
THREE suspects linked to vehicle theft cases across Durban and Berea were arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning (April 18) just after 04:40.
The suspects attempted to escape private security when they were spotted along Peter Mokaba Road in Morningside and opened fire on armed response officers.
Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell said the suspects were using a Chery Tiggo.

“As the occupants became aware of the patrol presence, they fled at high speed. During the pursuit, the suspects escalated the situation by opening fire at responding members. Members returned fire in self-defence and tried to disable the suspects’ vehicle. Despite this, the suspects continued to flee, leading members on a prolonged chase through the Morningside area,” he said.
The pursuit ended on Florida where five suspects exited the vehicle.
“Three suspects were arrested while two suspects managed to evade arrest. A search of the vehicle revealed numerous house break-in implements, car break-in implements, false number plates and computer boxes to steal motor vehicles,” he said.
