“Winning the tournament felt surreal, like all our hard work and trainings paid off. But in that moment I honestly couldn’t fully process how big of an achievement that it was. The team was overwhelmed with joy, grateful for the experience and relieved that we achieved our goal going into the tournament,” Lovemore said.
Another plus to their victory is Danville is set to host the National All Girls’ Schools Festival next year.
“Our goal is to defend our title next year. We will be on home soil and our number one goal will be to get the gold medal again and make our supporters proud.”
Following their triumph in the Western Cape, the team won the Curro Salt Rock 1st team tournament.
“We are working towards much more as a team, including the SPAR Fast 5 tournament later this year … league games and coming up we have our derby day against Pietermaritzburg Girls’ High school,” she said.
