Support doggy adoption day in Durban North
According to PACT founder Neeri Naidoo, the organisation spends approximately R60 000 every month on food, shelter and veterinary treatment for the animals under its protection.
ANIMAL lovers, families, and pet owners are being invited to a day of fun, community spirit, and second chances when Phoenix Animal Care & Treatment (PACT) hosts its Doggy Adoption & Market Day on June 13 at the Northwood Crusaders Sports Club in Durban North.

The event, from 09:00 to 14:00, aims to connect rescue dogs with loving families while raising awareness and support for animal welfare initiatives. Visitors can meet adoptable dogs, browse a variety of market stalls, enjoy live entertainment, and take part in family-friendly activities throughout the day.
One of the highlights of the event will be the Doggy Dress-Up Competition, which begins at 11:00 and is expected to showcase some of the area’s most stylish four-legged companions.
Local vendors will also offer a range of products and services, including gourmet dog treats, handmade collars and leashes, pet accessories, and dog behaviour consultancy services. Organisers said the market day provides an opportunity for small businesses to connect with pet-loving customers while supporting a worthy cause.
PACT founder Neeri Naidoo said it costs the organisation about R60 000 a month to feed, house and provide medical care for the animals in its care.
“We are appealing to the public to open their hearts and homes. When you adopt an animal from a shelter, you are making space for another and that means we won’t have to turn cases away. Some of our dogs have been waiting for seven years. They deserve a chance at a family,” she said.
The event forms part of PACT’s ongoing efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need. Organisers are encouraging the public to attend, whether they are looking to adopt a pet, support local businesses, or simply spend a day with fellow animal lovers.
“Every adoption creates space for another animal in need and gives a deserving dog a chance at a better life,” she added.
