The unit explores the different roles and responsibilities people have within a community, and the visit provided students with a firsthand look at the important work firefighters do to keep communities safe.

During the interactive session, firefighters taught learners about fire safety, explained what causes fires, and highlighted the vital role emergency responders play.

The children also learned what to do if their clothing catches alight and were encouraged to memorise the emergency contact number.

The highlight of the visit was undoubtedly the opportunity for learners to climb aboard a fire engine and enjoy a ride with the sirens sounding, creating an exciting and unforgettable experience.

The college thanked the Umhlanga Fire and Rescue team for bringing classroom learning to life and inspiring young minds through practical, hands-on engagement.
