Motorists and residents are being urged to plan ahead as road closures come into effect for the ninth annual Absa RUN YOUR CITY DURBAN 10K, which takes place on Sunday, 12 July.

Event organisers have released the official road closure schedule, outlining temporary traffic restrictions that will be implemented to accommodate the race and ensure the safety of participants and spectators.

The race will begin at 07.00 on Masabalala Yengwa Avenue, outside Moses Mabhida Stadium, and finish at Sunkist Lawns on the Durban Promenade. The route will take runners through the city centre before continuing along the beachfront.

Stillwater Sports managing director and series founder Michael Meyer said the event showcases Durban while bringing thousands of runners and spectators into the city.

“We sincerely appreciate the support of residents, businesses and motorists while temporary road closures are in place. Every effort has been made to minimise disruption, and we encourage the public to familiarise themselves with the road closure schedule and plan their journeys accordingly,” Meyer said.

Road closure implementation and event preparations will begin at midnight on race day, with all activities expected to conclude by 11.00. Traffic will be managed by Metro Police officers and event marshals throughout the event.

Entertainment will be staged along the route between 06.30 and 11:30 as runners make their way through the city.
