Dolphins seal comfortable victory at home

The Dolphins secured a comprehensive 104-run victory in Durban, leading to them securing their first win of the competition.

AFTER narrowly losing their opening game of the YesPlay Pro20 Cup, the Hollywoodbets Dolphins were looking to turn things around on Wednesday when they took on the Northern Cape Heat.

Playing at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium, the home side secured an emphatic 104-run win with contributions from Bryce Parsons, Grant Roelofsen and Okuhle Cele.

Parsons scored 83 off 38 balls and took two wickets in the game while Roelofsen socred 72 off 33 balls; Cele starred with the ball, picking up 3/28 in the game.

The Dolphins, who won the toss and elected to bat first, posted a formidable 239/5 from their 20 overs.

While Parsons and Roelofsen both scored half centuries, a valuable 47 off 27 balls from veteran Dolphins player Khaya Zondo helped contribute to the daunting total.

In response, the Heat struggled to establish momentum in their chase and while Nonelela Yikha provided some resistance with 43 off 23 balls, the visitors struggled.

Cele was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts while Parsons and Sean Gilson took two wickets apiece.

The Heat were eventually bowled out for 135 in 16.4 overs, handing the Dolphins a comprehensive 104-run victory which was their first win of the competition.
