One dead in M41 crash
Emergency personnel had to extricate the deceased from the crash scene on the M41 between uMhlanga and Phoenix.
ONE person has died following a serious crash on the M41 between uMhlanga and Phoenix on Saturday morning (October 3).
According to KZN VIP Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Gareth Naidoo, the crash involved a taxi and a truck.
“Preliminary reports indicate that a taxi collided with the rear of a heavy motor vehicle, leaving the taxi driver trapped in the wreckage,” he said.

“Our medical teams assessed the driver, who sadly showed no signs of life and was declared deceased on scene, occupants from the DSW Truck sustained injuries but management refused for them to be assessed and transported them in their private vehicle to hospital,” he said.
The Fire Department extricated the deceased driver from the vehicle.
“The circumstances leading up to the collision remain unconfirmed at this time,” he said.
Naidoo thanked the emergency services who responded and offered his condolences to the driver’s family and loved ones.
