Meeting venue and day is problematic

While I am glad the public meeting on the proposed residential development at Beachwood Golf Course, I want to lodge objections in relation to the mentioned meeting.

EDITOR – While I am glad the public meeting on the proposed residential development at Beachwood Golf Course, I want to lodge objections in relation to the mentioned meeting.

I believe to hold such a meeting outside of the ward (Durban North) when a venue is available at Beachwood unfairly discriminates against those that wish to attend, especially older people, many of which have lived in Fairways Drive for nearly 50 years.

It therefore seems illogical to hold this meeting at Durban Country Club when a suitable venue at Beachwood would be available.

I also submit to you that the date of the meeting is problematic. To have such a meeting on a Friday evening will not create an environment for which as many parties as possible can attend for very obvious reasons.

I therefore request that the venue and date is changed in order to ensure that this meeting is as accessible as possible to ensure maximum public participation in this process.

Dean Macpherson

Ward Councillor: Durban North

Meeting

The public meeting to discuss the proposed residential development at Beachwood Golf Club is on Friday 13 September from 6pm to 7.30pm in the Belvedere Room, Durban Country Club.
