The outcome of Manase Report unclear

EDITOR - The article 'DA discusses Manase findings' refers.

The DA has announced this meeting as an information meeting regarding the Manase report.

Unfortunately this has not happened in my opinion. The major part of the meeting was a video about the two Helens (Suzman and Zille) and a lengthy speech from John Steenhuizen about the municipality audits in the country, and the Zuma spy tapes.

All they actually had to say about the Manase report was that they got it six weeks ago and that it would now take them months to go through the 7 000 pages.

Firstly, the report is not 7 000 pages long, but only about 550 pages. The rest is an executive summary and annexure, some of them completely irrelevant.

Secondly, the report makes 50 or 60 clear recommendations on what should be done, ranging from disciplinary actions to criminal charges and money recovery.

As the important aspects of these recommendations have already been published a year ago, the least I would have expected from the DA is that they would have kept an eye on it.

Unfortunately after one and a half years we, the residents still do not know what has become of all these recommendations (if anything at all).

The DA, who sits in the council, has not contributed to bring light to this affair. The whole meeting gave me the impression that the Manase Report was just used as a hook to capture the interest for a DA public relations meeting.
