Out of all those that attended, he is the only person who believes what was offered in terms of the meeting, was not sufficient.
Mr Klausli also goes on to say that the DA has done nothing to have this report released. I think Mr Klausli is misguided by this judgement as it was the ANC who refused to have the report released. Maybe he has not read a single newspaper or statement that the DA has made on the matter (as there are many) and its attempt to have the report released, because it is only the DA who was able to eventually force the MEC of COGTA to release the report.
Mr Klausli also believes that somehow we could have taken action on a report that we did not have, this is most bizarre and his claims that the report is not 7000 pages is factually flawed.
The truth is that the annexures and support documents are apart of the report as they detail in depth the malaise that has engulfed eThekwini Municipality. Just last week, the DA laid criminal charges against current and former councillors implicated in the report after it was discovered that no criminal chargers had in fact been laid with the SAPS and SIU.
One thing that I will agree with, Mr Klausli, is that we we did want to capture the public’s interest because, as a political party, that is what we do. If you didn’t know, we are in the business of elections and we have a very important General Election in 2014 where only the DA can be trusted, through its proven track record, to take the ANC on, as we fight for a better South Africa, free of corruption.
This is fight which we started and won in eThekwini by having the Manase Report released and then by reporting back to our voters through a public meeting.
It would appear Mr Klausli does not quite appreciate and support these efforts.
