Editor- JUST a short story about an act of kindness I was on the receiving end of on Tuesday, 29 April. I parked my Toyota Fortuner in the Durban North Hypermarket car park while my wife went in to shop. After she had returned and I was driving out of my parking space, I realised my front left tyre had gone flat. Remembering there was a tyre fitment centre located next to the petrol station at the Hypermarket, I drove my vehicle slowly around to the centre to get the tyre replaced or fixed. However the fitment centre was closed even though it was only 4:40pm and an attendant at the petrol station advised that they could not help me either.

So I set about changing the wheel myself only to find that my spare wheel was secured with a padlock for which I did not have a key. My wife then went back into the Hypermarket to purchase a small bolt cutter to allow me to cut the padlock while I stayed at the vehicle and tried to resolve the situation with the tools I had. Although my wife could not find any bolt cutters to buy in the Hypermarket, a staff member who was helping her offered to make a plan to bring a bolt cutter used by staff only to my vehicle (thanks to this gentleman for making a plan). In the meantime, I was approached by three gentlemen in a bakkie who had seen me from the petrol station and offered to assist me with changing the tyre.

Before I could even blink an eye, they had broken the padlock off and replaced the wheel with the spare and I my vehicle was road worthy again. It turns out they were from the McCarthy Toyota Durban North dealership (service department) in Waterkant Road. So many, many thanks to Sean, Frans and the third gentleman (whose name I did not catch properly) for this unexpected act of kindness and also to say that you have done your dealership and the Toyota brand proud.
