KZN U19 squad chosen for IPT
Team captain Keagan Horner and Kearsney College’s Reece Brown are the oldest players in the squad at 18 years old, however, there is a strong core of younger players that will be returning to the IPT in years to come.
THE KZN Golf Union recently announced its U19 team for the Inter-Provincial Tournament starting in Port Elizabeth Golf Club in December.
The eight-man team is made up of players from across the province with the bulk playing their golf in the greater Durban area.
Team captain Keagan Horner and Kearsney College’s Reece Brown are the oldest players in the squad at 18 years old, however, there is a strong core of younger players that will be returning to the IPT in years to come.
This year’s KZN team will be playing in the B Division following their relegation in 2023.

“We are going to win promotion back to the A Division. We’ve had a brilliant year of preparation with our monthly camps at the Mount Edgecombe Driving Range, and the team will use the final two months to hone their skills before heading to the Eastern Cape. It isn’t going to be an easy week for the team who will need to win the B Division in order to gain promotion,” explained golf operations administrator Colin Burger.
The KZN team will come up against six other teams in the division, all fighting it out for that top spot over five days.
“We have got a good mix of older and younger players in the team, and going forward, this year will be important for experience. It’s an exciting group of players, and we wish them all the best for the tournament.”
- KZN U19 team: Harry Clayton, Kairav Maduray, Matthew Gouws, Benjamin Wilson, Keagan Horner (captain), Jamie Smith, Reece Brown and Akhil Maduray.
