Grant Khomo Week is the annual U16 rugby week which will see the best of the best in rugby.

Sam Pretorius, a teacher responsible for rugby, informed that this is a significant achievement for Ngwenya and Greenside High.

“This is an honour as he will now be coaching at the highest provincial level,” said Pretorius.

For two years, Ngwenya has been coaching the U18 Academy Week team and now he will be showcasing his skills in the 2015 Golden Lions Grant Khomo Week side.

Speaking about his new venture, Ngwenya highlighted that he was chuffed to be selected as coach.

“This is a good challenge to be part of the team,” he said. “I am looking forward to it and ready to carry the boys under my wing.”

His achievement caps off a hugely successful rugby season for Greenside High, which saw the senior teams win their league and, moreover, produced no less than six players representing the Lions at various levels.

Players such as John Samboko represented the Golden Lions at the U18 Academy Week. Samboko also represented the Golden Lions at the U18 Krugersdorp Festival.

Sabelo Mweza represented the Golden Lions at the U16 Linden Festival.

Sihle Ndima represented the Golden Lions at the U16 Jeppe Festival.

Jarred de Vries will represent the Golden Lions at the U15 provincial tournament in Cape Town later this month.
