Chabane accident: driver appears in court
JOBURG – Minister of Public Service and Administration Collins Chabane will be buried on 21 March in Malamulele, Limpopo.
Minister of Public Service and Administration Collins Chabane will be laid to rest on 21 March at Xikundzu Village in Malamulele, Limpopo.
Chabane and his bodyguards, Lesiba Sekele and Lawrence Lentsoane, were killed when a truck allegedly made a U-turn in front of their car on the N1 near Polokwane in the early hours of 15 March.
The truck driver was not injured.
He was arrested on the scene where Chabane and two of his bodyguards died.
He also tested positively for alcohol in his bloodstream.
The driver, Amukelani Rikhotso, appeared in the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court on 17 March.
Rikhotso faces three charges of culpable homicide and one of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Meanwhile, Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa has been appointed as the Acting Minister of Public Service and Administration.
