A cut above the rest

AUCKLAND PARK – Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg celebrates the success of the year's Dux Litterarum, Rebecca Organ.

Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg proudly boasts its Dux Litterarum for 2016.
At the recent valediction ceremony, Rebecca Organ was awarded the ultimate accomplishment and title.
Public relations manager of the school, Savo Ceprnich said that Organ excelled in English, German, physical science, life sciences and advanced programme maths.
Organ’s teacher, Dr Eimy Oswald said that it was her hard work and sheer determination to succeed that led her to this grand success. “These are also some of her strongest attributes.”
Her peers saw these attributes too, which made the decision to make her head girl for the year easier. “This was just a reflection of how her peers found her inspirational,” said Ceprinch, and added that pupils who look up to her should follow her amazing work ethic, drive to succeed and the desire to overcome the odds to achieve top results.
The ceremony took place in October in the school hall and it was attended by the class of 2016 and their parents. “The school teachers, management, representatives from the German Embassy, as well as friends and family members gathered at the ceremony,” said Ceprinch. He also added that this was the final formal event for the matric year.
A host of awards for subject prizes and sports awards with specially named trophies were handed out on the evening. Organ not only claimed the Dux award she also received a trophy for the top combined results in German, English and Afrikaans.
Organ will head to Switzerland next year to study Biomedicine.
