Northcliff Union Church honours first responders with prayer session

The partnership between spiritual care and security forces strengthens the fight against crime in the local community.

To honour first responders for their courage and dedication, Northcliff Union Church recently held its annual prayer session. The session brought together local security companies and law enforcement on August 30.

Chaplain Stanton Jogannah, a member of both the church and the Spiritual Care Chaplain team, emphasised the importance of such gatherings. “Many first responders often feel unappreciated. For the community, and the church, to come together like this shows them that they are valued and supported. It’s a great initiative that should happen more often – a simple way to say thank you for what they do every day.

“The Fairland and Northcliff communities have a wonderful spirit of co-operation when it comes to first responders and security companies. It’s not about one group doing better than another; it’s about joining hands to make a difference.”

He further praised the role of community WhatsApp groups in crime reporting, describing them as influential tools that engage residents in the fight against crime. “Everyone working together for one purpose is crucial.”

Pastor Andrew Franks, of Northcliff Union Church, expressed the church’s commitment to supporting this cause. “Wherever we can support what Stanton is doing, we want to be involved. Our role, as a church, is to look beyond the negatives and recognise the value first responders bring to society. They don’t always receive the support and understanding they deserve.”
