For some, it was a serious test to nail down a qualification for the Comrades and the Two Oceans marathons in 2026. For others, it was about pulling on a pair of shoes and remembering what it feels like to run with a crowd.

The field was a mix of seasoned runners, first-timers, and plenty in between, all sharing the same climbs, and the same finish line. By the time medals were given, it was clear this was more than a qualifier; it was a reminder of why people fall in love with running in the first place.
