Update: 7 teenagers shot: 2 teenagers killed, 5 receive medical attention after Westbury shooting

Seven young people caught in suspected gang shooting, police are investigating.

Police in Sophiatown responded to a shooting incident in Westbury has left two teenagers dead and five others in hospital after gunmen opened fire on October 21.

Gauteng Police spokesperson, Brigadier Brenda Muridili stated that police confirmed that seven victims, aged between 13 and 19, were shot by four suspects believed to be members of a rival gang. The wounded were rushed to hospital, where two were declared dead on arrival.

The remaining five are receiving medical attention.

District Crime Intelligence has also been mobilised to assist the Anti-Gang Unit in tracing the suspects behind the deadly shooting.

Police investigations are continuing.

The suspects opened fire at the victims without saying anything and then fled the scene. The incident occurred in Croesus Street in Westbury at about 13:00. The victims are aged between 13 and 19 years old.
