Inside 3RC’s mission to help learners find their future

3RC’s interactive school activations are helping learners move from uncertainty to informed decision-making.

For many of us, knowing at 17 with absolute certainty which career path we would follow was overwhelming.

Much like then, many learners today struggle with uncertainty about life after school. Recent career guidance activations across local schools, however, helped address this challenge.

The sessions are held annually by 3RC, an organisation that travels to schools providing career guidance. Three local schools — Pinnacle College Linden, Reddford House Northcliff, and De La Salle Holy Cross College — hosted activations to give bright-eyed Grade 11s and matrics clarity and confidence about their next steps.

Founder Kay Cheytanov explained, “Our main goal is to give learners clarity, confidence, and options. We want to take away the pressure and panic around ‘what’s next’ after school and replace it with excitement. There isn’t one path to success, and we try to show as many possibilities as we can.”

One of the challenges highlighted during these sessions is the pressure many learners feel to ‘have it all figured out’ by age 18. Concerns about affordability, gap years, and whether they are ‘good enough’ for certain paths frequently come up. By presenting a range of pathways, the sessions encourage learners to see that multiple options exist for achieving their goals.

Cheytanov added that relevance is a key focus: “We stay very close to both education partners and industry trends, bringing in institutions offering modern, in-demand qualifications, and keeping the guidance real and relatable for learners.”

The sessions combined practical information with interactive elements and engaging presentations, giving learners the chance to explore career possibilities and gain insight into a variety of paths. In doing so, they helped ease the uncertainty that often comes with planning for the future.
