National Prosecuting Authority declines to prosecute road rage accused at this stage

The NPA will not move ahead for now, with further investigations still pending.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has opted not to proceed with the prosecution of the accused shooter in the road rage incident, which took place on April 19 in Emmarentia, at this stage.

NPA spokesperson Abram Mohlatlole said: “After careful consideration of the evidence of the alleged road rage incident, we have decided not to proceed with the matter.”

The suspect, who faced charges of murder and attempted murder, was released on April 21 by police, according to Mohlatlole.

The matter remains subject to further investigation, and Mohlatlole said the matter will be revisited at some later stage, when they have sufficient evidence.
