Reddford House Northcliff teacher sees teaching as a calling, not just a career

Educator Micaela Greeff shares what it truly means to guide and inspire the next generation.

For Micaela Greeff, teaching is more than a profession.
It is a calling rooted in purpose, faith, and a deep commitment to her students at Reddford House Northcliff. Having left a corporate career to pursue education, Greeff said she has no regrets. “Teaching has given me a sense of purpose.” She added that she only wishes she had made the transition sooner.

Working with young people has shaped her approach in the classroom. She describes her learners as honest and vocal, constantly pushing her to adapt her teaching methods to better meet their needs. “Their feedback challenges me to think differently.”

Greeff admits that self-doubt does arise, but she turns to her faith for guidance. “I believe teaching is a calling from God. In difficult moments, I seek His direction.”

Beyond academics, her focus is on equipping learners with critical and creative thinking skills they can apply in real life. She believes these tools will help students achieve far beyond their expectations.

One of the most impactful lessons she has learned came from a former student who, despite personal challenges, returned to complete his studies. The experience reinforced her belief in treating learners with respect and without judgement. While the rewards of teaching include seeing students succeed and grow, the demands are significant. “It’s not a job you switch off from.”

Ultimately, Greeff hopes to be remembered as a teacher who helped her students discover their potential.
