Community fair, a day for the entire family

The first ever Newcastle Community Fair will be taking place on November 1.

The event will be hosted by The Gift Basket and is set to take place at Scott Street Mall, from 9am until 5pm.

Promising entertainment and games for children and adults alike, the event is sure to mark the dawn of a new era of fun for the Newcastle community.

“I would really like to turn it into an annual event,” Nadia Aziz from The Gift Basket explained.

While offering Newcastillians the opportunity to unwind, the community fair will also be focusing on raising funds for charity.

“We would like to set up a second-hand clothing stall, where clothes will be sold to raise funds for Nil Desperandum. The residents of Nil Desperandum have beautiful hearts and we would really like to help them out,” said Mrs Aziz.

She encouraged the community to donate all unwanted clothing to the cause.

“The community can contact me or even drop off the clothing on the day. As many people would like to become more involved in charitable causes but don’t always have time, this is the ideal way to give back to the community.”

On the day, the SPCA will also be in attendance with information about caring for pets during the festive season, particularly when the use of fireworks will be prevalent.

Parents who wish to peruse the stalls at their leisure, can make use of day care available for their little ones at a minimal cost.
