AMIGO’S Lounge in Vryheid was the place to be on Saturday night, November 8, under new management and with an appealing new look, as Ukhozi FM broadcast live from Amigo’s Legends VIP Lounge upperdeck.

DJ Sgqemeza; Khetha Gwala; DJ Mngadi and Sthandwa Nzuza were present at the event, representing the South African national radio station based in Kwa-Zulu Natal that caters to the needs of the Zulu-speaking community.

According to Wikipedia, the station was founded in 1960 and is the largest radio station in South Africa, by listenership, and with a listenership of over 7,5 million, Ukhozi FM is more than just an average radio station.

As well as these celebrity guest DJs, Amigo’s Lounge also played host to a number of guest DJs, aka ‘Selectors’ and performers from Vryheid and surrounding areas, dropping beats like they were hot and setting the bar for Deep House both locally and afar.

Names like Kurtis Deep; Chicks; Ma-Andy; Villa; Sah noRah; SKay; PGuSonic; DJ Mpho; Cbu; Sbu; DJ FetisDeep; DJ Tsoro; Puffy and Shakes noSingil, to name but a few, tore up the decks downstairs, enthralling crowds who had gathered in their numbers for this prestigious event, deeply entrenched in the culture of music and fashion that is Deep House and Commercial Music.
