For the past 23 years, the French Soirée has brought French flair to Dundee to mark the anniversary of the death in 1879 ofthe Prince Imperial, Napoleon, during theAnglo Zulu War. Founded by historian and Frenchliguist, Glenn Flannagan of Pietermaritzburg, the Soirée is again held at Chez Nous – the home of Dundee’s vivacious French personality, Elisabeth Durham. Guests included the French Consol General in South Africa, Raymond Quereilhac, his wife, Michaëlle, and Haitian friend, Maggie Askari – who now lives in the US.
