Learners get a pleasant surprise

It was a joyous day at Amahlubi Secondary School when they received stationery supplies from the Gift of the Givers Foundation

Learners and staff from Amahlubi Secondary School got more than they bargained for when Gift of the Givers Foundation officials visited them on February 16.

As part of its ‘Education Support’ programme, the Gift of the Givers has been distributing stationery supplies to schools.

The deputy principal at the school was aware that the learners would receive stationery, but was overjoyed when he saw the other gifts as well.

“We distributed stationery packs to the boys and hygiene packs to the girls from Grade 8 to 11. All the Grade 12 learners received school bags with scientific calculators. This was generously donated by PepsiCo,” said Gift of the Givers community liaison Jaaved Khan.

The school welcomed the supplies with open arms.

“The learners and teachers who were assisting were left in shock. This was the first time that all learners received gifts. The principal sent many thanks to both the foundation and PepsiCo,” added Khan.
