Vryheid parkrun celebrates 275 events

Parkrun is positive, welcoming and inclusive; there is no time limit and no one finishes last.

After the flooding at parkrun the previous weekend, there was a concerted effort behind the scenes to check and prepare the course so that the participants could excel, complete and enjoy another event.
By Thursday evening, the course was checked, the grass was cut and volunteers were organised for Saturday. Everyone’s efforts and contributions enabled Vryheid parkrun to host their 275th event. The organisers commented that Vryheid volunteers are the best.
Julias Chituku was the first finisher on Saturday, while Sabelo Ndlovu finished second. Ingrid came first in the female division.
The only personal best time was posted by Aphelele. Vryheid parkrun welcomed newcomers Pieter, Rene and Henriette, as well as two Johannesburg visitors.
“Well done to the behind-the-scenes people – you are all the real heroes who bring parkrun to communities!”
Remember that parkrun takes place every Saturday at 08:00 at Vryheid Golf Club.
Parkrun is a free 5km community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or be a spectator.
