Parkrun celebrates 7 years of community fitness

Anyone is welcome to join every Saturday at 08:00.

Vryheid parkrun’s seventh birthday celebrations started out rather frosty on Saturday morning, but birthdays only come round once a year, hence runners and walkers participated with enthusiasm. The parkrun birthday event was no different than any other parkrun, except that it was made extra special by all the participants, Comrades runners, volunteers and emergency personnel who joined in the celebrations. The finish line was such a colourful display of sports shirts and balloons, and was an absolute hoot, with cheers for each and every finisher. The first finisher was Thabiso Ndlovu and the first female finisher (who was also a first–timer) was Thandi Khumalo. There were three personal best times – Tyson, Thabani and Slungile. A total of 10 first-timers joined Saturday’s event. The committee wants to thank everyone for their support and dedication to parkrun.
