Strong turnout marks latest Vryheid parkrun event

Vryheid parkrun welcomes newcomers, celebrates milestones and sees a wave of personal bests.

Vryheid parkrun once again drew a strong crowd on Saturday, with the warmer weather adding extra energy to the course. Runners and walkers were in top form, and plenty of personal bests were achieved.

Lingelihle Tamela was first across the line, clocking a personal best of 16:47, while Smangele Mnguni secured the top spot for the women in 21:54, also a personal best. The first four finishers were Siyathokoza, Lingelihle, Nhlanhla and Mbuyiseni.

The event also welcomed three newcomers Wenziwe, Liane and Zander, while ten participants set new personal records: Lingelihle, Ntando, Smangele, Thubelihle, Lwazi, Mnotho, Thabani, Renè, Trudie and Janette.

Adding to the celebrations, Irene Fick completed her 50th parkrun, a milestone warmly applauded by fellow participants.

“Well done Vryheid parkrunners, walkers and volunteers, you sure know how to hold a great event,” organisers said.
