Nhlanhla Ncube nears 100 wins at Vryheid parkrun

Nhlanhla Ncube secures 99th Vryheid parkrun win as Zanele Makhubo sets personal best.

Local running star Nhlanhla Ncube continues to dominate at Vryheid parkrun, finishing first again this past weekend for the 99th time! His consistency has made him a familiar and inspirational figure on the 5km course.

Fellow runners say they are looking forward to cheering him on when he goes for his 100th win.
It was also a memorable day for Zanele Makhubo, who not only crossed the line as the first female finisher, but did so in a personal best time.

The event welcomed nine newcomers to the Vryheid course, including both visitors and locals starting their parkrun journeys. In addition, four runners achieved new personal bests, all of them women: Zanele, Clair, Marti and Pricilla.

The organisers used the occasion to celebrate the strength of the local parkrun community. Volunteers and participants alike were thanked for making the event a success, week after week. Special mention was made of Mike Williams, who recently created and installed new course signage.

Vryheid parkrun takes place every Saturday morning and remains a popular meeting place for residents who enjoy running, walking and being part of an active community.
