Despite arriving a little late, Tyson Sibiya produced a standout performance to claim first place at Vryheid parkrun on Saturday, slicing through the field to take top spot in impressive fashion.
Junior runner leads women’s race
In the women’s race, junior runner Busani Ndlovu led the way, finishing as the first female in a personal best time. Ndlovu secured first position by mere seconds, underlining a strong and determined run.
Mix of familiar faces and newcomers
The event drew a healthy mix of familiar faces and first-time participants, adding to the lively atmosphere on the route. Vryheid parkrun also welcomed two visiting ambassadors, Fadeela and Yunus Omar, who joined the local community and were warmly received by runners and volunteers alike.
Cool conditions boost performance
Cooler weather conditions contributed to an excellent morning of running, with 11 athletes recording personal best times. Congratulations to Alex, Mamush, Busani, Njabulo, Alta, Louise, Theo, Sonja, Lydia, Werner and Magdalena on their achievements.
Milestone moment celebrated
The morning also marked a milestone celebration, with Tersia Crouch completing her 50th parkrun event – a moment recognised and applauded by fellow participants.
