Most divisions featured more than 16 competitors, with the top 4 in each division qualifying to receive SA JKA National Colours.

The SA JKA Nationals, held on May 15 and 16, showcased outstanding karate talent, with more than 2500 entries from all nine South African provinces.

The tournament opened with a procession where athletes from each province entered the stadium wearing provincial jackets and carrying their provincial flags.

Competition proved fierce, with most divisions featuring more than 16 competitors. Only the top four athletes in each division qualified to receive their SA JKA National Colours.

Both novice (colour belt) and elite (brown and black belt) karateka who finished in the top four also qualified to represent South Africa at the Indo Pacific Cup (IPC), which will take place in Mauritius later this year.
