Lifetime Achievement award for Ladysmith Black Mambazo

Ladysmith Black Mambazo were in Ladysmith just the other day to celebrate the Grammy Award they won in January, and now they have done it again by winning a SAMA Award.

The Isichathamiya group attended the SAMA 20 awards ceremony which was held at the Sun City Superbowl last night (Monday). The group snatched another award, together with Maskandi legend Phuzekhemisi. Mambazo and Phuzekhemisi are said to be the two most influential indigenous music acts in South Africa.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Phuzekhemisi walked away with ‘Lifetime Achievement’ awards. Isichathamiya and Maskandi are two traditional music genres rooted in South African soil.
