Taxi war continues

THE VRYHEID SAPS are still in search of the criminals responsible for the murder of late taxi owner’s association chairman Timothy Dlamini.

After the police found a vehicle believed to have been used by the hit men who fled the scene after firing shots at Dlamini, there have been no new developments.

According to the SAPS’s Major Mbatha there seems to definitely be a taxi war going on as last week Wednesday two of local taxi owner Jabu Khumalo’s taxis were torched just before midnight.

“Khumalo woke up to the sound of something bursting outside and upon investigation found that two of his taxis had been set alight. They managed to move the other taxis from harms way just in time but the two that seemed to have been enkindled first, burned to shells,” said Major Mbatha.

It is unclear who is behind the torching of Khumalo’s taxis, the police did however find a plastic bottle with petrol in it and a box of matches near the scene and both items have been taken in as part of the investigation.

Those who might have information that could lead to possible arrests are requested to visit Vryheid SAPS’ crime prevention offices.
