EID CELEBRATIONS turned into a frightening ordeal for the Ravat family, last week, when three-year-old Hishaam had a terrible accident.

The infant was playing with friends on Thursday afternoon when he got his hand jammed in a door, losing the tip of his finger in the process. In a frenzy, the family headed to Vryheid District Hospital where they say they were blown away by the great service from the staff members.

According to Hishaam’s mother, Sumaya Ravat, the family, which is originally from        Newcastle, were put at ease from the moment they arrived at the hospital.

“From the security guard at the gate, who helped us fill in our details before entering the hospital, right through to the nurses, that helped put me and my boy at ease, we were impressed with the helpful service,” said Sumaya.

The family said that even the cleaning staff was very attentive, coming in twice during the night to ensure that the little boy and his mother spent the night in a clean and sterile environment.

“I would like to say a big thank you to the surgeon, Dr Lida Dliignant, and Sister TS Mdlalose, who are just who ensured all went well,” Sumaya continued. Having been shown great love and care, it was no wonder that little Hishaam put up a fight when he was told that they were leaving the next day.
