Residents were left scrambling for water as the pump at Klipfontein was reported to have packed up, due to what is believed to be, years without proper maintenance.

Residents who were looking forward to a nice cold shower this evening after today’s sweltering heat may have been in for a rather unpleasant surprise when they opened the taps.

Although, is it really even surprising anymore when AbaQulusi is rendered waterless?

It was reported that the water level in the reservoir is dangerously low, according to Ward 9 councillor, Alta de Kock, who immediately got in touch with the municipal manager as well as the mayor when she was informed of the matter.

“According to the municipal manager,” reports the DA councillor, “they are attending to the matter…”

It is believed that the water will be restored at around midday tomorrow.
