UPDATE: Louwsburg road open for motorists

The police currently have the crowd of protesters under control.

The R69 has been cleared and motorists are free to drive on the road between Vryheid and Pongola via Louwsburg.
The Louwsburg Police Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel AB Dlamini has given this update.

“We currently have the traffic flow under control and have managed to open the road to motorists once again,” said Lt. Col Dlamini.

Colonel Dlamini says that members of the Ulundi Public Order Policing (POP) unit as well as officers from the Louwsburg police station have managed to move the protesters to the side of the road as they wait for the mayor to head out and listen to their grievances.
